PROOFREADING INSTRUCTIONS FOR BAND AND ORCHESTRA MUSIC

PLEASE USE THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE

MAKE CORRECTIONS DIRECTLY ON PHOTO COPIES IN RED BALL POINT PEN. TYPE AN ADDITIONAL LIST OF THE CORRECTIONS ON A SEPARATE SHEET OF PAPER. 

Check all clef signs, key signatures, time signatures, and double bars on all parts and scores.

Write down in order all markings; dynamics, tempo changes, cresc., de cresc., repeats, etc. Check all markings on all parts and scores.

Check phrasings, ties, slurs, number of beats per measure (rhythm), count measures between letters, and make sure the total number of measures is correct.

Check spelling of title and composer. Check also to see that the copyright is centered on the title page of all parts and scores. 

Check pagination on scores and multiple page parts.

Check lyric for captial letters, spelling, punctuation, syllabification, and melisma lines.

Check your full score aginst the camera copy full score if one is to be published. 

Check your condensed score against the camera copy contensed score.

Check your partrs against the camera copy parts. 

Check the camera copy parts against the camera copy full score if a full score is to be publised. If no full score is to be published, use your original full score. Be sure to check reminder accidentals.

Check the camera copy parts again, against the camera copy condensed score. This is very important.

If possible, have your number played.
